Tirupati: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday alleged that chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was not invited to the dinner hosted by President Ramnath Kovind in honour of visiting US President Donald Trump in New Delhi “as the USA does not like dealing with leaders involved in cases”.
Naidu made the remarks at a press conference in his native Kuppam in Chittoor district.
‘‘US laws are very strict and generally the US government does not deal with anyone who is involved in criminal or economic offences of any kind. That’s why they didn’t entertain an economic offender like
Jagan,” alleged Naidu.
The YSRC reacted sharply to Naidu’s allegation. “Naidu is only degrading himself with such comments. The Union government invited only eight chief ministers for the dinner. Naidu is trying to link it with the disproportionate assets cases on Jagan for political gains. Naidu is the biggest financial offender in the country. He is facing allegations in the vote-for-note scam, ESI scam, insider trading in Amaravati lands and other cases. He should respect the mandate given by people before making such comments,” fumed Malladi Vishnu Vardhan, Vijayawada Central MLA, who is also the chairman of AP Brahmin Corporation.
Earlier, Naidu addressed rallies as part of his Praja Chaitanya Yatra at Kangundi, Govindapalli, Vijalapuram and Dandikuppam on the second day of his Kuppam tour. Flaying Jagan for “disillusioning the future of the state by adopting flawed policies”, Naidu said all good work done by his government has come to a standstill.
